THE EVENT BY J.JACKMAN X HAYS X MIND THE GAP X FINMARIE AT HAYS WAS A BIG SUCCESS!
An inspiring evening celebrating International Women’s Day surrounded by bossladies!
Our amazing founder and CEO Jovan led the evening and shared her own pieces of advice and wisdom throughout the International Women’s Day Event.
We heard from the following bossladies:
Better is good Ahlam Alaqili: Yemeni activist. Powerful Female Refugee and TEDx speaker
Ahlam shared her thoughts about female rights and inclusion. She spoke about what that means locally and internationally. We got an inside look at Ahlam’s personal journey of moving to Berlin after the outbreak of civil war in Yemen. Ahlam is an incredibly brave and inspiring woman! She also shared with us her story of project ‘Life Back Home’. She has done numerous speaking roles and now works at Trixiewiz e.V which is a ‘migrant and feminist organization committed to the sustainable creation of a solidary post-migrant society’. We were all moved by Ahlam’s passion and perseverance.
Karolina Decker and Ewelina Kolodziejczyk: Co-founders of Finmarie & Mind The Gap
Karolina founded FinMarie after learning that women are often unsure about how to make financial investments. FinMarie is the first online investment platform in Germany to help women save and invest their money. FinMarie is dedicated to emotionally support and teach women. Mind the Gap is linked to FinMarie and is a series of regular events and workshops to that educate women about finance and money management. Ewelina was so inspired by FinMarie that she quit her corporate career to join Karolina.
Anh Tran: Managing Director of Simpleshow Asia and co-founder of International Women's Connection
Anh used her humour and ‘can do’ attitude to share with us what it means to ‘lead like a woman’. Through her work at the International Women’s Connection she found that a good strategy for her was to be ‘bossy but fair’ and spoke about how we should embrace the term ‘bossy’ as a positive trait. “Play fair and have integrity” is a key message she shared with the group. In her work Anh brings together women for inspiring events and talks.
Galina Charni: Founder and CEO of VeryClothe, personal shopper and stylist
Galina studied fashion design and has lots of experience in the industry. She worked as a stylist and host of a TV shopping channel and co-founded two startups. From her work with private clients she developed a deeper understanding that how you dress affects how you feel. Her app VeryClothe helps provide style guidance and advice. We loved hearing her talk about how clothing can be used as a language. Galina encouraged us to embrace our bosslady side and reflect our personality in how we look. And most importantly, to have fun with it!
The evening ended with a big round of applause and Jovan asking us to consider ‘who made your clothes’.
A big thank you for Hay’s for sponsoring the event and Malgorzata Sielinska for the photography.
We look forward to seeing you at our next bosslady event!
